multi behavior

I just got 4 new multies 2-3 inch range, They are always skimming the top of the water, its amusing and dont mind it, but wanted to know if it was normal not not a sign of stress. Thanks.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. As they are new they might be exploring the tank and/or are in search of food.
I've also seen this behaviour in much larger multis.
