Guys, i wanna create some good current in my tank. So i need some new powerheads. The 4 * 730L/hr aquapro's are crap. What do you guys use or recommend? Ive seen Resun 2000l/hr powerheads for only 20 euro. they any good?

does nobody use powerheads here or are they all crap so that you cant recommend them??

I didn't reply because I can't say anything about either of the two products you mention.

In my personal experience, you get what you pay for when you buy filters/water pumps. Pay a little bit more, and you get a little bit more...

Sure, I'd put a 2000l/hr powerhead on your 10g tank... Um, your ceiling IS waterproof?

I have a 400L tank in which my plecs need some better current. As said, the aquapro's arent that good so im looking for something a bit better. The tank is 150 cm long so i think a 2000l/hr would make it to the other side of the tank. But im also interested in what you guys use... i cant buy all brands here but it gives a good impression of what to and what not to use.

I have a 150 cm/5ft 400L/100+g tank that is currently run by:
1x Juwel Jumbo filter, 1000 lph/260gph.
1x Eheim 2028 filter, 1050 lph/275gph.
1x Eheim circulation pump (technically not a powerhead): 1000 lph/260gph.

That gives a turnover of around 3000 liter per hour.

The juwel filter is fitted on the right-hand back, the eheim on the left-hand along the side, so they are in principle fighting each other along the back. The eheim circ. pump is fitted at the bottom/front on the left-hand side, so as to circulate water from the bottom towards the inlet of the Juwel filter (and also help the front current from the Eheim filter).

[The gallon numbers are my mental arithmetics, which may be quite mental at some times].

All seems to work well, fishies are happy.

is the eheim powerhead any good?

I'm happy with the pump that I'm using, although as I said, it's specifically not a powerhead - it has no way to (without lots of plastic surgery) attaching it to some sort of filter. It's got a small grate to prevent big stones, snails and fish getting sucked in, but other than that, it's just an inlet, impeller and outlet.

You can't actually see the pump itself, since it's below the bit of flower-pot ont he side left-hand front of the tank, but that's what the bit of cable goes to [It would require a longer lead to connect to the pump and follow the sides of the tank - as it is, it comes with about 2 meters of lead, which isn't long enough to reach following the edges of the tank - at least not with my power-socket on the side of the cupboard under the tank].

It does get "stuff" stock to the inlet, so it does need cleaning about once a week - mostly snail shells and dead plant matter.

It wasn't very expensive, about 20 pounds, so around 30 euros [probably less, things tend to be more expensive in the UK].

to get some flow over my L333's i use 2 Aquaclear 802's, they move 400 gallon's an hour each. The tank is 48"x15"x15".

i've got a eheim powerhead with a venturi system...it never give me problems

due to the lack of options here i bought a maxi-jet today! this is a good thing tho! pretty cheap and gives a lot of current!

L333's are gettin nice and fat, but my cave's are to big for them to spawn in, i need some proper sized one's. How are your fry?

The fry from the 1st spawn are getting to a good size, 1." - 1.5", although out of the 8 that hatched only 5 are left. I found a couple of dead ones the other day with no real signs of anything wrong, they looked well fed and good a colour.

There is also another spawn just leaving the cave, although they have been kicked out by another female trying to get jiggy with the boss male, and the 2nd in command is sitting on eggs (a females 1st lay so only about 15-20 eggs from what I can see)

I also agree Kev, Aquaclear 802's, they are on my list of things to get and add to the river tank.

seios are quite good, i use these on my reef tank! very good turn-over! worth spending the money, more money means more quality IMO!
