Ok, so I'm after some opinions on these pellets. The list of ingredients includes 10% wood fibre, along with Wheatgerm and Spirulina. Are these a good food for wood-eating plecos in addition to offering fresh veggies and having driftwood in the tank......

I feed them combined with the Novo Fect tabs and Novo Vert vegetable flakes to all my plecs including my wood eaters and they seem to like them, they allways get eaten anyways. I have plenty of bogwood in the tanks too.

I supplement with feedings of courgette / zuchinni about once a week although I have noticed my panaque (L191's) don't seem to care much for the courgettes, they eat the skin but not much else.

I have also found the JBL novo Tom (very fine powdered flake) to be a good starter for my albino Cory fry, I just presoak it in water and pour it into their net breeder.

I've seen my eating the skin as well, and leave the rest to be eaten by someone else...

Thanks guys I'm currently contemplating my first Panaque, and since they're so dang expensive over here in New Zealand, I'd really like to get it right the first time. Since my Common prefers the inside of the zuchinni, maybe I should peel it, give her the insides and give my soon-to-be newcomer the skins only

Which Panaque are you considering ?

Be warned that wood eating plecs (especially the royals in my experiance) produce huge amounts of waste (mainly sawdust as opposed to actual poop).

They can create a real mess in a community style tank because most filters get clogged up pretty quickly by all the mess, I have found its best to give them a tank of their own where you can keep an eye on the sawdust buildup and syphon it out every few days.

They are fun to watch though the way they kind of waddle about the tank.

Lol, you must be a mind reader Its a Royal that I'm looking at. He won't have the entire tank to himself, he'd be sharing it with a pair of G. surinamensis, but he'd be the only bottom dweller.

Thanks for the advise about the poop, I'm more used to what comes out the other end of my Sailfin and my Common, so its good to know I should be looking for something a little different with this guy. He's been at the lfs for two weeks now, and seems nice and active, with no signs of any shrunken belly. Is two weeks enough time for any feeding issues to start showing up?

Well, my first "difficult" pleco is now making himself quite at home in my tank Don't think he's too fond of me at the moment, but I'm sure that will pass. He's got a lot of nice, little Royal sized caves around his driftwood and seems quite happy hanging out in those.

Anyone have any tips on these guys that aren't mentioned in the Cat-e-log? Personal experience things?
