Okay my first post here on these forums, I am a regular over at Plecofanatics. Today I woke up and went out to do errands early. When I came home I noticed that the darn light in the tank was not on (stupid timer, been meaning to get a new one). Well I turn it on and as I am walking away something catches my eye, so I go to take a look. Even though this is my fisrt experience I new right away they were eggs. So I logged onto the internet and start doing searches, and viola, I end up here. I read the sticky, and a few articles. I used the tip of a plastic straw to scrape and hold the eggs as I placed them in a breeders net (all I have right now). Main reason I did this is cause the other fish in the tank had began to snack on the eggs. I think there was maybe 30 or 40 (not sure) and from what I've read there should be more to come. I also read that sometimes all the eggs ar infertile and if they are they will turn white. These eggs were a little darker colored and definitely had little embryo like things in the middle. I am excited to see if the hatch. If and when they do I plan on picking up a 10gal to grown them out in.

Congratulations!

But you're in trouble now, because once they start...

Now, even more important than a grow-out tank, make sure you have suitable Fry food.
