Is Liasmodoras a synonym or did the LFS just invent it?

Post by Pelteobagrus »

I saw a fish by that name at an LFS today and was interested in it. However i've been paying hell to find much info on it. Its about five inches long and looks something like a Lithodoras or Pterodoras.

I was wondering if that name was used by dealers or if its an actual genus. Looks to me like a highly modified incorrect spelling of something but i'll be danged if i can figure out what.

Anyhow thank you very much for your input and this is a pretty amazing site keep up the great work.

Ah thanks for some reason I must not have seen that genus.

Looks a lot like L morrowi. There was another one there that didnt quite look like that but it was heading out the door with a customer so i didnt get a really good look at it.
I've never seen that species before, looks interesting but I'm not sure where to put it so it looks like I'll have to pass on it.

I can't seem to find much on it but I'll keep poking around for info on it.

Thanks a lot,

I used to have one which would swallow algae wafers whole. I didn't often see it, but it made hooting noises during the night. I had it for two years before I even found out what it was.

I've since found another one available in the area for about the same price. I didnt get a good look at it since it was jammed nicely in some driftwood.

I'd probably give it a shot if i wasn't trying to get a few more 75 gallon tanks for my fish to move into. Really neat looking critters.
