can i feed my newborn whiptail fries hikari algae wafers?
i don't have brine shrimp eggs right now

the eggs were in my community tank and i used a hose to remove the eggs anbd transfer to a 2.5 gallon tank.
using the old tank water.. and an airstone.. will they survive?

Also, if you search the forum, there's been a couple of discussions about helping Sturisoma and closely related genera to survive the first few days.

Apparentley (from what I read), the problem is that the fish needs to get the food close to them, as they are more scared of moving than of not being able to find food, so they just sit two inches from the food and starve, unless you can get the food RIGHT on top of them.

I'd raised a few batches of sturisomas before, they were fed mainly on Sera Spirulina, mixed with a little Sera Viformo and Tetra Tabimin, feeding started after the egg sac's fully absorbed. Hikari algae wafer was fed when the fries were about a month old. Survival rate's more than 75%.

i'm worried that i transferred them into a 2.5 gallon tank with justan airstone.
had to transfer them since my last bacth in the comm tank. none survived , think they were wsucked into the powerhead

Some species will grow out in a main tank and some need to be put somewhere where they can be fed heavily as they do not want to move to find food. The trick then is to keep the water from fouling. I documented one way of building a device to slowly flow water into a holding tank for the fry that is placed right in a fish tank to keep the water quality good.

i'm planning to throw my whiptail breeders into a tank with anubias plants only. its a 75 gallon tank.
if they spawn in the tank will the fries survine in a 75 gallon tank? there are some algae growth in my tank.
