A friend from the Max Planck Institute put me on to this useful little search engine, although it has to be said that anytime I tap in a catfish name it directs me to sites I already know pretty well.

That's clever. I made a similar thing myself (for a laugh) which uses some of the underlying technology:
http://fishfishfish.org/index.php. Not finished, though. I just use it to send me updates on papers by RSS.
Rod Page, the guy at Glasgow that made iSpecies, has done some clever stuff with ITIS data, which I have taken some inspiration from for a little gadget I'm making.
Check this out:

Again, it's not finished, and it breaks when the data I am parsing contains errors. Hopefully, I will finish it one day.
