The title sort of says it all...in any case, I'm under the impression that L-199 is infrequently imported, but the specimen in question looks more elongated than my current L-270 stock. Any ideas?

The pic is not so good but it looks like L199 and a youngster to me, the eyes are quite big compared to the size of the head.

this is a L-270, because he have 3 lines in the ''nadadeira dorsal'',the L-199 have 4 lines

You can not use that as an indentification because both species have a very large varity in the pattern
even the lines/marks on the hard finray's in all the fins.
This is a L199 youngster about the same size as above.

And this is L270 also around the same size.

Actually, I'm the current bidder. That pic is actually the "property", so to speak, of R. Montalvo.

Also, in retrospect, my group of five L-270 have dramatic differences in dorsal stripe, ranging from 2-4, and one indivdual which doesn't even have stripes; rather, squiggles of yellow all along the dorsal fin. I have to agree that dorsal stripe numbers are not consistent with a specific species.
