Here's a pic of synos that I bought at my LFS 2 hours ago. It was sold to me as 'Upside Down Catfish'. They have been upside down plenty of times, but it doesn't hurt to check:

Thanks if you can help me.

Its OK, no need to bother. The search is over; it was correctly ID as a upside down catfish.
Thanks for the warning about the pic though.

it was correctly ID as a upside down catfish.

If this is supposed to mean S.nigriventris then your fish doesn`t look like it.They look some kind of hybrids to me.

They could be young S. eupterus.

The eyes look bit coppery or golden?

Yes, Silurus is correct, they are
S. eupterus. They're coming along nicely but I'm being forced to sell them due to them disrupting plants and scaring off my Discus and other fish..

Can't you just return them to your LFS because of the reasons you mention? After all you've been misled by them to a certain extent.
