Hej all
two years ago I imported a groups of Ancistrus from the Salta province in Uruguay. According to a picture in Wels Atlas 1 this species is most likely A. cirrhosus. However, what is the status of this name?
What is considered as the species distribution area?
And what other species of Ancistrus is known or expected to occur in Uruguay.

I can help you with your first two questions:
1) A. cirrhosus is a valid name
2) Paraná River Basin
If no-one else can help you out, you might have a look at the Cat-eLog for your third question.

Martin,

The Ancistrus Cirrhosus is one of those that, according to Kathy Jenkins book, is found in many places in South America.

On the other hand, Fishbase lists no Ancistrus species at all in Uruguay... Freshwater fish in Uruguay
