Hello all
Greetings from Denmark
I would like to know if any of you have informations about the ecology of the species in genus Paraloricaria in the wild?
Also first hand experience from aquarium maintenance would be appriciated.

Not expecting 100´s of ansvers but hoping...

Regards
Martin

I would suggest you start HERE.

There is alot of information on Loricaria and related Genera in this volume, if only my German was better however!

The good news is the english version is only recently available.

Hi Martin,

All species of the genus Paraloricaria reach a strength size. The smallest species becomes up to 25cm, the largest up to 40cm.
All of them need high oxigenic water.
Both points do not promote the popularity. So the species of this genus are not appeared in tanks.

regards
Norman

Thank you for the ansvers - the book sounds interesting. I am aware of size etc. I keep mainly fish from winter cold areas and can supply temp betwin 8 to 18C during the winter months so the southern represents of Paralocaria should do well here.
I will try to import some and see how it goes.
