Ok, so we are talking about 64 F. I thought there was a range of 64 to 75 F for them.

The trouble with making statements about the ideal temperatures to keep specific species at, is there will always be differences of opinion, because like I stated In the case of C. paleatus and a couple of its close relatives 18º C is the mean temperature, with a couple of degrees fluctuation either way, with a tolerable top line around 24º. But! the majority of so-called C. paleatus in the hobby today are raised in fish farms and are far removed from the natural species and are probably better suited, or perhaps I should say, more accustomed to slightly warmer temperatures than their wild cousins.

Now that you do state median or average temperature I follow what your previous comment was about in this post. I can get them to spawn up to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mine are kept at 75 degrees F and this is the temp I have found them to be most active and happy at

I've noticed the Paleatus most comfortable at temperatures between 69-74 degrees F. They seem to breed the most in the 75 gallon tank when the temperature is about 70-71 degrees F. Anything above 75 degrees F, they seem to make more frequent trips to the surface and breath rapidly. I haven't observed them breeding above 74 degrees F. Just personal observations.

I have kept wild paleatus in the mid 60's and have hatched out fry at that temperature. One interesting note about the low temperature, it took 8-9 days for the eggs to hatch.

All of my Paleatus spawns have been at 72 degrees F. But since I highly respect Ian's opinion...I'm going to try cooler temps! I anticipate MORE spawns, with bigger yields.

What other commonly found corys can be kept with Paleatus at this temp. ?

We have pond kept paleatus during the summer here in Denmark.
It takes from 7C and up.
