Other than occasionally showing up as a contaminant, these aren't generally available. They show up on exporters' stocklists, so it would be possible to order some yourself.

Most Imparfinis stay small (not more than 4-5", usually less).

You might want to make enquiries here as to availability.

It's a long time ago, but back in the days when I and Marc had a friend near us who imported rare cats, these would be on the list.
they ship very very bad! as in: all die within hours of bagging them.

I can remember Ton telling us that getting Imparfinis was next to impossible, but you should ask Marc van Arc for more details, he spend many more hours there than I did.

I've seen many fish in there that were next to impossible to ship or bag; once had a whole group of Microsynodontis (or something) roll over on me, minutes after catching them. AFAIK Imparfinis are worse.

I have only seen them for sale from time to time. The ones in the cat-elog were collected in the Rio Tinaco, Venezuela. They have proved hardy but are fast water fish and treated as such. They maxed out at 8cm and I've kept them now for over 3 years.

Yes, they are social although males do like a bit of space to themsevles. They spend their time buried in the sand but come out when food is introduced.
