Hi Kim,
When I wrote that article in 2004 Britto had just published the following paper: Britto, MR, 2003. Phylogeny of the subfamily Corydoradinae Hoedeman, 1952 (Siluriformes : Callichthyidae), with a definition of its genera. Proceedings of the Avademy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia 153: 119-154.

It was in this phylogeny that he said Corydoras was not a monophyletic group, and he proposed, among other things, placing Brochis into synonymy with Corydoras and putting the barbatus-group corys into Scleromystax.

Most people have agreed with the placing of the barbatus-group corys in Scleromystax, but I think some people disputed the Brochis/Corydoras synonymy bit.

I've added a link at the bottom of the article to the debate about the phylogeny which was published on Planet Catfish.

Cheers,
Matt
