Hey there,

i bought 2 Syno. Nigriventris last sunday, it's been like 5 days since i haven't seen them eating. There are guppies in the tank (im going to remove them later) and just my 2 cats. I put in blood worms but i dont see them comin out to nibble. Same with algae wafers, I'm a bit concerned coz i dont want them to starve.

Plz Help.
(I know this should be under African Catfish, but nobody ever replies to me there)

Maybe someone with moderator privileges could move this to the African Catfish section.

What are the water parameters (Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, pH, GH)?

What part of the day do you feed them?

I don't generally see mine out feeding during the day. They usually become very active after lights out.

Heyyy, there was a little depression of blood worms last night and this morning it was all gone! The guppies must've been too small to eat them all, so i rekon it must've been the catties... phew, crisis over.

Thanks guys. I just need to get a hold of some mosquito larvae or something lol.

Blood worms is a kind of mosquito larvae, or very close, depending on how broad (or narrow) you make the definition of mosquito. They are, as I understand it, the larvae of Midgie's(spelling?), which is a small form of mosquito-like insect. There are of course other forms of mosquito that have different larvae (black mosquito larvae, from the "ordinary" mosquito, which I believe is also similar to the Malaria-carrying form of mosquito, which probably also works [and I don't think the fish will get malaria from the larvae]).
