Synodontis Schall?

Post by fishguyeric »

I am going to apologize in advance for my photo skills :) .

This is a fish that came in to a wholesaler mixed in with one of the other species a while back, they seem to think notatus but no one really remembers for sure. The owner of the store I work at picked it up and brought it to his store. That is where these pics are from. I bought it awhile back and put it in my tank (55 gallon mixed community). It has since gotten much more gold and the pectoral and dorsal fin rays are really rather orange (not unlike corydoras sterbai, but not quite that orange). Lee Finley has seen the fish and believes it is a Schall, but even he is not certain. After looking at all the pics in the Cat-e-log, I am not either. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like one from frontal (or near frontal) shots (I'm freely applying grains of salt).

Well, with you and Lee in agreement, that is as good as I can get as two of the top catfish people in the world agree on it.
