Damaged fins

I'm not sure what Forum this belongs in, so if It bellongs somewhere else please let me know.

I have an King Tiger Pleco, L066, that I bought a couple of months ago. When I got him his tail and dorsal fins were badly damaged. So far I haven't noticed any improvment. He eats well and is fairly active. Will they ever grow back or will it always be deformed?

Thanks for any help on this and if you need any more info let me know.

Damaged fins usually heal, but they sometimes do not if the damage is too great.

Soft rays will almost always come back, buy damaged hard fin-rays are more difficult. As HH said, it really depends on the extend of damage.

I've seen broken pectoral spines on common Pterygoplichthys ssp. grow back to nearly their full original length, and their tails will grow back after it was chewed down (most of it). You'll always clearly see where any bad damage was, but in most all cases they at least grow back to a fully usable fin anyway..
