I want to put my Synodontis eupterus in my 60gal planted tank. Would he pose a threat to my plants or small fish?

No. They might nibble a bit on young shoots, but will not mow your plants down.

There's another thing though; Lace cats are often quite boisterous, and like big Pleco's they tend to be the "Elephant in a China Store".......
so if you got fragile or very fine leafed plants in there, they might look wrecked once you fed bloodworms or so.
a hungry 7" Syno (and they're always hungry!) has no objections to bulldoze itself through a bush of Cambomba or a field of small Echinodorus tenellus in search of "lost" bloodworms.

my eurpterus is a stoppy little bugger, and it shows no fear of an oscar much larger than it and sometimes bites the oscar if he comes near his cave.
your plants should be ok as long as they are not too delicate but as already stated they may get bashed around when looking for food.
what size fish are they, as very small fish may get eaten by the syno.

S. Eupterus = Featherfin catfish, S. Nigrita= lace catfish
My Eupterus has four tiger barbs with her and they ignore each other completly. I dont have real plants so I cant comment on them but the eupterus is good at leaving the fake ones right where they are.
