Petricolas hiding

I recently bought a group of 12 syn. petricola of just over an inch (2.5cm) for my 240G (8'x2'x2') Tanganyika community setup. I was lead to believe that I could expect a group of that size to be out in the open and school around the tank for a reasonble amount of time. Instead, they simply vanished into the rockwork (of which I have plenty, mostly in form of a real rock background), and only very occasionaly do I see one of them at feeding time. Whenever I see one, it looks a lot bigger than any I have seen before, so they do seem to be getting enough food  Can I expect them to come out more as they get older and larger, or is this what it is going to be like?

Other fish in that tank are 50 Burundi fronts of about 2" (5cm) that I am growing out, 5 N. brevis, and 8 bristle nose plecos.

Many thanks

Frank

That was normal for my 1st group of 4 dwarves, and it's the same w/ the group of 5 I just got recently to replace those dearly departed souls.

The original group didn't get very bold til they neared the 2" mark, but once they were comfortable they NEVER hid!

I guess there is still hope then, and I just got to be patient with them. They are around 1.5" now. Many thanks for the encouragement.
