I bought these at a pet store in Chinatown. They are an inch and a half long. The pet store owner only knew their name in Mandarin and roughly translated, they're called 'Chinese Lute'. I'd like to find out more about them if anyone knows what they are. Thanks!

These are not catfish but actually a member of the loach family called hillstream loaches. They have many other common names as well. You can find some information here http://www.loaches.com/species_pages/be ... ensis.html

They are a type of Hillstream Loach, further info from the following web site. I use to have a few when I started the whole fish thing, but back then I didnt really know what I was doing and managed to kill them all through ignorance (my own and the LFS guy's) Amazing fish though, suck to the glass like glue and dart through the water with no apparent effort. In need a cold tank now, time to ask the wife for more tank space :D

Beaufortia kweichowensis
Chinese Butterfly Loach / Borneo sucker - Gastromyzon sp.
Gastromyzon ctenocephalus (Spiney-Headed Hillstream Loach)
Pseudogastromyzon cheni
Chinese Zebra Loach / Sucker - Pseudogastromyzon fasciatus
Pseudogastromyzon myersi
Hillstream Loaches - Some good info on tank setup for these little suckers
