Hi, I´m recording the stadistics of the Panaque species specially Panaque sp. L191 , wich is your experience with this sp.... because is the unique sp. that hasn't eaten plants in my 4 years that I keep him. And I've just listened bad opinions about eating plants. there are exceptions with this sp. of Panaque???

I don't think they eat plants in nature, unless desperately hungry.

I think people who find that their panaque's (or other pleco's) eat plants aren't feeding them enough vegetables (or other food).

I could of course be wrong... ;-)

I agree with Mats. I do not know of any loricariid that regularly eats higher plants as part of its diet in the wild. I have never seen pleco damaged plants in th wild either (not to mention that you almost never find aquatic plants and loricariids in the same environments). My guess is that most plant eating comes about because the fish is improperly fed or is just "collateral damage" from algae grazing.

HI, thanks for the replies.

yes, I agree with both.., but sometimes is really difficult to keep vegetables in the aquarium for the Panaque's demands, well, it depends on if you do water changes every 2 days.. because they will eat all. :P and there is return for those vegetables jeje

REgards :D
