L-47 and L-142 compatibility ?
I have a young L-47 (around 2.5 inches) and I have been considering purchasing a small L-142.
I've read all the threads I could find on L-142's, and I know that both of these species get large when they reach maximum size.
A couple questions:
1) Would these two plecs be compatible with each other in a large enough tank provided with many hiding places?
2) Are L-142's just as difficult to ship as other Baryancistrus sp. such as Gold Nuggets?
Any info would be great...
Thanks in advance.
Steph

1. Yes. That's not really any different than keeping more than one of the same species. However, I would be a litle bit worried that you'd get hybrid babies in case you get one male and one female, which could be a "problem"... I'm not saying that this WILL happen, but I'd rather keep fish of different genera, just in case, to reduce the risk of hybridisation.
Why not try a "Snowball pleco" that is similar in looks, but a different genus?
2. Can't answer... Don't have any experience with shipping... But if I had to guess, I'd say "Yes, the same level of difficulty as Gold Nuggets".

L137 is a Hypostomus species, so it's probably a little bit less territorial than the Baryancistrus, but it's still going to want it's privacy somewhere.
As far as hybrids, I'd think that's unlikely to happen between Baryancistrus and Hypostomus.
Again, I'm not sure if they are easier or more difficult to ship.
