A friend of mine has an African tank and has asked me to ask which, if any, plecs are suitable for his tank. The specs are:

Ph: 7.5
Temp: 27/28
Tankmates: venustus, pseudo albino zebra, yellow lab, Aurora, jacobfrieburgi, johanni, astatobilapia latifasciata, aulonacara blue peacock.

yup, there are.
Ancistrus can be put with African cihlids without any problems. They can even reproduce in such tanks. I got them in tanganyika and malawi tanks, and in both tanks are a few youngsters. There are probably some more plecs with are suitable for african tanks, but this is the one that adapts the best.

I have two Sinodontis petricola, they are from the Tangayka lake (Africa), and can be put with any ciclid fish without any problems. ;)when they are fully grown they are about 15 centimetres I think, and I bought two yesterday and they are now only 2 cm ^_^ they leave other fish alone but there is a chance that they will eat smaller fish. I couldn't find them on this site btw...

Synodontis petricola are listed in the CateLog, both the standards and the dwarfs. If yours are that small, odds are good you have the dwarf variety that will only get 10cm (4 inches), not the larger one. The dwarfs are commonly spawned, the standards are not. They also do best in groups. I'd definitely recommend you get a few more if you want to see natural behavior.

Synos aren't plecos though, although the petricola will clean on some types of algae.
