Syno for a Bichir Biotope set-up

Hi all,

Its been awhile since I posted here but I am need of your help again, My West African Biotope is finally underway!

The tank is going to be 90-150G, set up to be sort of a Slow river/swamp with lots of bogwood, rocks, and plants

I'm basing it around Polypterus delhezi and Polypterus palmas polli so I need something that directly shares habitat with them.

Also, nothing small since obviously the bichirs will dine on them...

Lastly, I would like something a little less common but not impossible to find.
I will probably try to get it through Toyin of Rehoboth aquatics if that matters...

Thanks,
Sam

I don't know whether they share a habitat, but I would suggest . They're peaceful as synos go, not too shy, and they look great.

Angelicus. Don't know if they share the same waters though. And I believe if a Bichir ate a Syno, you would end up with 2 dead fish.

be sure to feed the fish well, mind.
Bichirs cannot swallow a Syno, but they can grab it, hold it for a long time and do some serious damage; I've seen this happen with P ornatipinnis and S nigrita/nigriventris

For a rare syno, I would suggest the Granulosus. The get about 10 inches, and are quite rare and expensive. Or Angelicus, as stallion mentioned. The can hold their own, are pretty, get to 10 inches, and are kind of rare.

I wouldn't add the granny to any non-Tanganyika tank, exactly BECAUSE they're so rare and expensive.....

but YMMV
