I have a tank that is 6 feet long and 3.5 feet wide. My friend offered to give me his 18" L.pictus. I am willing to keep it alone however how large would the other fish have to be to keep from being eaten? I am thinking 10" and larger would be safe. What size fish is it capable of eating? And even if could would it try to?

Basically you need anything at least half its body length so yeh, 9" or more is about right. You want to look at other large cats (clarius, shovelnose etc) and large cichlids, or maybe an arowana?
