Common Pl*co red fins

I'm not sure why the normally light spots (dots) on the very tips of the fins on my commmon pl*co are turning red. The spots were just the normal light colored spots that you see on them, but in the last 2-3 weeks they seem to be turning a red color. They are not a open sore or anything like that, just a reddish color. Is there something wrong with this, or is this a normal thing? I have checked all the water parameters and the nitates, nitrites, and ammonia are at zero, and the tank has cycled. PH runs right at 7. The fish doesn't seem to be sick and is eating. And is quite active at night. Anyones ideas would be great.

Thanks

Brian

How large is the fish? This is normal sexual dimorphism for many Hypostomus.

He is about 4-5 inches. I have been watching him closely for the past few days and he seems heathly.

Brian,

I've noticed this before when the fish puts on a growing spurt maybe caused by better conditions or food.
