Sailfin plec - colour

I have just bought a Sailfin Plec - about 2 inches long, excluding tail. I had one of these years ago - considerably larger, he/she was a gorgeous 'rusty' brown colour, my new addition is quite pale - my question is, will this fish colour up or do they vary in colour and therefore he/she is likely to stay paler?
Thanks for any replies

Yes, this is normal, your pleco should colour up within a few days if happy.

(PS I moved this post into this forum as this is the pleco forum)

Whoops...thanks Jools, server was playing up and I didn't think question had got posted at all ! - so it was good to get a reply, and just what I was hoping for too ! - Plec is in with Mbuna but is holding his own just fine (all juveniles), seems to be eating well - they come and take a look at him now and then but that's all. Is there just one species of Sailfin Plec? - and all a darker brown colour then?

There's ONE sailfin plec
.
However, there are other varieties of
Pterygoplichthys genus. And of course, even more if we expand to relatively close genus of for instance Hypostomus. But none of those should be called "Sailfin pleco".

the other colour variation is the albino gibby (same catfish - still sailfin plec or "gibby") - see this website for pictures - gorgeous yellow colour, becoming golder as they get older
