All,

When I first got into the hobby a couple of years ago I was able to purchase 2 porthole cats. Are these not available anymore? These guys are really fun to watch around the tank. Yes, I know they do not have the striped tail. But, I find this version very interesting.

I guess I'd liek to post the above questions and I'm also curious if there are hard to find fish that you might be looking for?

Let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

Nah, they are definitely still around. My work gets a few of them in every month or two, including a flag-tailed version. These fish are moderately hard to find, but they aren't rare by any means.

I currently have one of the regular porthole cats and it is probably one of the most interesting and social fishes I have ever had. I have only seen the flag-tailed version for sale but my regular one did not seem to care for thier company.

I hope you can find a couple for your tank!!

Thanks guys!

I'm looking to add 2 to my current group of 2. I think it would make them happier. and I'll enjoy their interactions!

Just recently in my area several shops have received 3 or 4 each of the wild caugth flagtail's, but I have not seen the non's in a while! But I have a group of 5 flagtails in a 125 and around feeding time they get crazy active. They seem to be the most in turn fish as far as feeding schedule goes!
