Hi, I was cleaning out my tank moving some rocks around and i experienced a sudden pain in my finger, the rocks are smooth and the only fish near me was a Synodontis CF Petricola "Dwarf" has anyone herd of these biting? or if they know of any side effects? My finer has gone red apart from where the bite is which is slighly pale/white..

Any answers would be great asap... Ouch its still throbbing!

Are you sure you weren't stung (instead of bitten) by the catfish?

Prob was more of a sting.... got one red dot too which bled a little but its stopped now.

The pain is starting to go now, just still a little throbbing.... fingers not so red now... :-S

What u think? Is this common?

You'll have been "stung" rather than bitten. The fish will have pierced you with one of its spiny fin rays.

Yeah, this happens from time to time among the catfish keeping fraternity. Synos aren't bad and aren't venomous; I find that the dull pain goes away in a day or so.

I think we have a FAQ entry somewhere.
