Has anyone used grape wood?

I've seen some awesome pieces of grape wood for use in terraria...has anyone used them in aquaria??
I konw they do not sink easily, any other issues anyone is aware of?

i have a feeling that some vines i bought were grapewood. you're right, they don't sink, but you can wedge them in against the sides of the tank. eventually they waterlog and sink.
they had quite a lot of fungus growing on them initially, but that stops after you siphon it off.
well worth it, they look really nice.
best to pressure wash and pour boiling water on them if they've been near reptiles (campylobacters and salmonella etc).

Thanks, I'm pretty sure these weren't near any reptiles, but I'll be boiling them anyway...

You can make the grape wood sink easier by boiling it for 1 hour. My grape vine sank after about an hour of floating it in the tank after boiling it. You may have to keep adding water to the pot you use to boil it if you don't have a large pot as this wood absorbs a lot of water.
