have a couple of gibbies, purchased about 2 weeks ago, one week in new tank. cool colours but pretty unlively. will they get a bit more sociable once they settle in?

Give them a little time and make sure the tank is properly aquascaped with plenty of hiding spaces and they will settle in. Some fishes need a while to get comfortable. You can also keep them active by having veggies always available for them in the open.

thanks for the reply. gibbies are a bit more active, looking a bit more relaxed as they settle. obviously they nocturnal, so that doesn't help. i find if i sit quietly by the tank they relax once they don't feel any more vibrations (wooden floors) and start to move around a little more. all the food i feed is being eaten, in contrast to previously. :P

Yes, and once they get used to your footsteps on the wooden floors, they will come out when they hear you come, but if someone else comes in the room, they'll go hide... They really do recognise different people... But that will probably take several months.
