See my answer here. It's probably a good idea if you post follow-up questions in that thread to keep things together a bit better.

Busta the caves need to fit the male. If your males are too young right now, wait until they are not, and build the caves. In the Internet Lori lecture given by Larry Vires he outlines how to figure out exactly the perfect size for each fish. You want the fish barely able to get in under the roof, and enough room he can only spread out one pectoral. 1.5 times his length, and you've got a cave he'll be happy with.

sorry to sound really thick but pectoral fins are the fins on the side of the fish and the dorsal is the one at the top isn't it? excuse my dumb question i know they aren't going to be ready for ages yet but would it be advisable to put everything they need for breed in there and leave them to grow up with it and let them all have there own space, without interupting them later on in life?

my suggestion is to read all the articles in the shanes world section (under introduction in the above menu) that are about plecos. even non zebra ones, it's all relavent!

also read the catfish basics series of articles as well as all the FAQ's, and the stickys at the top of each forum.

here's the link to basic catfish anatomy.

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/help_anatomy.php

all the info's here, you just have to find it........

How much experience do you have in fishkeeping? what have you kept? and for how long?
