Well, I suppose I'd better get it started and in a similar fashion to the USA thread of last year, ask

IS ANYONE EXCITED YET?!?! :-)

So, who's going? Say hello folks!

I'm tempted, but I haven't got a clue where exactly "Wigan" is located....

The UK is a big place, and I haven't got a car.
Someone built a railroad from London to that place?

Wigan is 18 miles or so WNW of Manchester, with a good rail network from London (well, for the UK at least). I'm sure if you got yourself to Manchester, someone would offer to get you to the venue.

If I wasn't taking Shane, I'd offer. Also bear in mind Manchester is a big international airport, so getting to it from Europe should be easy and relatively cheap.

Yup, and myself and I'm sure others wil put their mobile numbers on here so that people can contact them for advice/help if they get to the area and are then unsure about how to progress.
Mine's 07906 269787, if I don't answer first time I'm either driving or asleep so try again afterwards.
There should be low-cost flights to and from most major European cities, I know I can fly to Amsterdam cheaper than I can get to Birmingham by train.

I'm going Jools. Really lookin forward to it! Looking at the map on the csg website it looks fairly easy to find just off the M6, so thats within 20mins of manchester airport. If anyone's unsure of directions that would be a good start! Ben. :D

Spent the morning working on my presentation. I am just over 1/3 finished. Expect circa 200 powerpoint "slides," most with several photos. I am very happy with how it is coming along and I hope you all will enjoy it. See you in a about two weeks!

Whew, that's good to hear. I'm about 1/3 finished too and was getting a bit worried about doing it in time. Works got me two big commercial tenders to finish this week and I don't know where the bandwidth will come from to get on with the show.

I know I'll do it, but it's quite nerve racking at the moment.

Two weeks! It's like counting down to Christmas.

Whew! I am about 90 percent finished. Circa 130 slides with 350 plus photos from Astroblepids in the Andes to Ancistrus in the Amazon. How you coming along Jools? I noticed quit a few Cat-eLog updates today.

I am about 70% complete. Just got markets and the "tista barrage" to go. I have all day today (Sunday) on it and at least all the pictures will be in place.

The only reason you're noticing that I look "busy" on the cat-elog is the new, more visual, representation of updates on the main page. I'm actually only spending 25-50% of my usual time on planet at the moment.

OK, folks, an update. Shane & Erica arrive at 8AM tomorrow then we're off on something of a roadtrip arriving in conventionland Saturday afternoon.

What's the plan for meeting up at the fish stores - say around 2PM? Ian?

Jools, the plan is as you say to meet up at Pier Aquatics around 1.00 pm. However I will not know until Friday whether or not i will make it for that time as I may have to collect one of our Norwegian members from Stanstead Airport, but I am sure there will be a few members there to form a crowd.

First i will give a special thanks to Ian who was driving all over England to pick me up at Stanstead, and for taking care of me all weekend :), and thanks to Stuart who wakes me up sunday morning :)
And what could you say about the talks by Jools and Shane, GREAT!!
This was my first convention outside Norway and i can just say that im for sure going next time as well, it was very nice to meet other cat-people and going to a convention dedicated to catfish.
I can only feel sorry for those who couldnt make it to the CSG convention but my guess is that youre comming on the next one.
Thanks CSG for a great convention.
