Yes he is very nice. Might go back and get some of the smaller ones if my bank manager will let me!
I'll try and find out.Anyone got the description of Centromochlus macracanthus? Sounds like it could fit the bill?

I heard that there was discussion of some kind of ban or limitation on Jaguars? Anyone else heard of this?

The short description may be of use, although it could apply to other Centromochlins as well(?). No pictures or drawings I'm afraid.
I have no paper(-s) on Centromochlus.
Very nice find!

A generic ban or country-specific? I haven't heard this & there do seem to be a fair few about in the UK at the moment.

Perhaps this might have something to do with NHA getting in a large group of adults for breeding attempts (as of last year), but perhaps not?

Both are really nice fish, and great finds too, though have to say would love to get my hands on some of the A.punctatus. Sadly, bit too far for me to arrange collection!
Hope you manage to get some more of the Centromochlus, and look forward to more pics :D

Yes, I agree they are C. macracanthus. I thought when I suggested it that there was a strong chance in view of the finnage.

Thanks for the compliments guys (though I suppose its the fish being complimented!)

Not sure, can't remember who said it now.
Just spoken to the shopkeeper, the jags went on Saturday, there are only 3 A. punctatus left.

I've run the ID past Luisa Soares Porto who described C. macracanthus, and she confirms that it is.

Cool. I've sent Mrs. Soares some pictures of , but have as yet not received a reply (and as it's quite long ago I'm no longer expecting one). About two years ago Dr. Ferraris told me someone was apparently working on/with it, but told me later on that person had lost interest for some reason.....

What happened to Jools btw?

Just wanted to make a note here to you guys, my lfs is ordering me 6 jaguar cats tomorrow and they will arrive on thursday.

I am hoping for adults, but if they are juvies they will be started off in a separate tank! Colony of 13 seems like a good spot to be at :)

Oh boy am I nagging them lol. and they get annoyed because now I know what the names mean and I can tell them exactly what it is (and they do not like people showing up their "experts".) As far as species avaialble. the Jags were listed as what they are known as scientific name. I did find more cent. perugiae's this way though, which is a pleasant suprise :) I do thank you for pointing out that list, it really helps with the hunt for :al:

The shop still had the last 2 T. punctatus in as of Saturday. I spoke to the shopkeeper and he said the wholesaler only got 3 specimens and they were sent as testers. Not sure whether we will see them again. if anyone wants the 2 and my 1 I can try and get them for you. Not sure about international shipping though; I dont know how to go about arranging that?
