Of-course not.

As I wrote before many times it was not on purpose:) And I finally split all the species.

I currently have 11 hybrid fish. I just want to grow them up to take photos.

Totally agree with you. If I didn't know that it is 100% hybrid I would say that it is something of the Lower Xingu type (I'm talking about the main fish of the thread).

Judging the pattern I suspect that the father could be L287, not L411. In the cave with eggs were L411 for sure. Also my L411 have pattern not usual for common L411, It could be so that my L411 are really a cross L066XL411.

That is interesting, still I can see some orange coloured present on the head!!
The specimens involved will depend what would have been present in th tank.

It is always tough to determin the parents as all have reticulated pattern!!The same could be said with 2 spotted species

It could easily pass for a full species...and not an Hybrid, unlike when a spotted species is crossed with a reticulated one-

- females only L340
- males L340, L411, L287

In the cave with the eggs were L411.

Currently it is 57 mm TL

I think that if you found the L411 male with the eggs, there is no reason to think he is not the father, I have never seen an individual taking care of the fry or eggs of another...he would certainly eat it that care of them...too much energy for futur individuals not carrying his genes!!

Hypothetically, but this has not been proven in loricariids. Care of another fish's young has been recorded in other species; the benefit is it shows you're a good parent!

My personal opinion is that I find that extremely disappointing. I ruins everything about Hypancistrus...
