It looks like I will have other plans. I will be packing up my tanks for a move to a new house with a barn and a proper fish room.

We are not sure on the closing date... as we are working out an easement issue with the neighbor. Looks like it will either be mid June to the first week of July.

I will start a new thread on the new fish room as I start work on it.

16th June looks good for me - so am i right in thinking its a 1pm meet at BAS then on to pier or the other way round?

& as an aside, as a more "junior" participant in the forums, will i have any difficulty in finding/recognising other attendees?

You could all stick barbels to your chin - just for the occasion of course

Brilliant idea Marc - i never thought of that!!!

I haven't shaved today so i look a little 'whiskery', well scruffy anyway.

I thought of wearing my CSG badge or a sign round my neck saying "Here I am - forum regular, please don't ingnore me" Ha Ha.(however my work colleagues would tell you that due to some of the clothes i wear no-one would ever miss me).

Shane and I are pretty hard to miss. I plan to be wearing a catfish t-shirt, probably one that says "Got Catfish?".

We'll work something out nearer the time, however it's great to hear about so many folks making the effort to come over.

I'll have a pint in my hand, floppy clown shoes and a pith helmet. Ok, probably just the pint.

Sorry, I meant, what is the origin of the word "decal"? Like, is it short for something?

Google "decalcomania" and "décalquer"
The transfer of an image by means of decalcomania, or the image so transferred. The word decalcomania is borrowed from the French décalcomanie, constructed from the verb décalquer `to transfer a tracing' and manie, `mania, craze.'

Ooops!

I know the word from assembling plastic models in my youth.

This is from Wikipedia

It says the word is short for Decalcomania

Wow this thread has gone off on a tangent,
16th and 17th are good dates for me too, it's my birthday on 19th.
As i am currently waiting for my helicopter back to the real world (I've busted my knee on an oil rig)
I should actually be on dry land on those dates, but I'll have to talk AquaKat into driving ,she hates driving long distances I only just talked her into picking me up from Bristol airport, she does like alchohol and any excuse for a piss up though, so we might get there yet.
I was in Pier on my way back from cumbria a couple of weeks ago, I actually got to see Gulper cats in real life, they are amazing, like cartoon catfish I'd love to see them in their natural habitat, there was loads of Loricarids, like an Aladins cave for us catfish freaks.
Good point about not knowing who is who though, I havn't got a clue what anyone looks like, except for Jools and Shane (obviously in practical fishkeeping not from stalking  ) but I'm still not sure I would recognise you anyway.
Maybe we should produce some check sheets with pictures on, you know like birdwatchers have at different sites.
It could go:
striped dorids
corydoras matae
Megaladoras Uranascopus
Jools
Pimelodus Pictus
MatsP
etc.

And we could tick them off and try and complete the sheet. :D

we could all take pens!

One extension to "my cats" that I was thinking of adding was a checklist for the whole cat-elog. You could tick the species you've seen, record the species kept and also record any breeding.

Expect discussion when Shane & I meet up next week!

You know, I've just about decided that you can ask the most obscure question (such as where did the word "decal" come from) and silurus will come up with the answer.

RIGHT CHAPS, back on topic, we are all on for the 16/17th. I'd suggest we start booking hotels and making plans for meeting etc.

Anyone any objection to making the following our hotel?

http://www.venues.uk.com/conference/hot ... ?hotel=723

Or this?

http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/hot ... elId=24187

If I could have a show of hands (by end of Tuesday?) as to who wants to book a hotel, I might be able to secure a group discount.

I guess it depends on how many turn up. It will involve beer and fishy chat. I guess I was thinking of the bar at the hotel.

Man, wish I could be there as well...
Anyway, see to it that you're not in a hurry when leaving the BAS parking lot  .
Enjoy and have a great weekend full of BBC (Barbels, Beer and Catchat).
