Yeah, I'm sorry for you too. :(
They look beautiful even when dead so must have been lovely alive. How old were they? What were you feeding them on?

Thanks everyone! It still aches.

I've come to say "NEXT" with a loss, but it has been some time since I've felt that "ache".

I looked up the old pics that I used to offer Jools and they were taken 12/06/2000.
DAMN!!
DAMN!!

I know it's a bit morbid, be even the dead fish pics would be of use in the cat-elog. This is a species I have never yet seen in person and that doesn't happen every day.

Jools,

You're always welcome to have any of my pics.

Do you want the bigger ones?

I came across this looking for something else, I am not sure how easy this information is to come by or if this would be of interest to anyone interested in Auchenipterids but you can decide for yourself and snap it up if you think you need it.

Not an easy one to find, so anyone interested should go for it. Over here one was offered for 45 euros (about 33 GBP), so 22 pounds is a reasonable price.

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
The Auchenipterids I keep are 2 Tatia perugiae. Nice little fish, and about the only Auchenipterids I came across in aquariumshops, accept for the Asterophysus batrachus I saw in Amersfoort 2 weeks ago.

Welcome to PC. Are there any other Auchenipterids you'd like to have?

Well, I'm looking for Corydoras axelrodi. That is another family though...

It is, yes.
On a side note: I believe Ruinemans has them in stock (not 100% sure though), so you might ask your LFS.

About the Tatias (which are called btw), have you got a pair or just 2 specimens?

Thanks for the advice! (I can't stand it btw that I got the name wrong, I thougt Centromochlus was a synonym for Tatia)

As for the pair: I think I have 2 females. But I need a closer look now I know how to spot the difference.
Where did you get all your fish. In the Netherlands?

Not to worry. It was changed (again!) very recently.
kruseman wrote:Where did you get all your fish. In the Netherlands?
I got them from Ruinemans through my LFS some 5 years ago. After that I've never seen them again in the Netherlands.

Nice to read that you indeed have a pair. Where are yours from? LFS Tegelen?

No, there are from the Maanvis in Nijmegen about 2 1/2 years ago.
Another question : Where did you buy you Gymnocorymbus bondi? I saw them on one of your photo's some pages ago.

Slightly off, but hopefully allowed: some came from Waterman Deurne. The major part came from Aquariumcentrum Helmond. Some months ago they were quite abundant, while they seem to have all gone again atm. Thought they were wildcaught specimens that came through a wholesaler. Not an easy fish to sell, due to the lack of colour.

The Helmond LFS is btw the one that tried to import some Auchenipteridae from Peru twice, but didn't succeed due to an unreliable exporter. Worth a visit and has several Corydoras species in stock.

That is where I bought and brought back my Gymnocorymbus when they grew too large. I think your fish once swam in my tank...
see:http://www.aquahobby.com/tanks/e_tank0601.php Great fish !

But back to the catfish: Thanks for the advice. The LFS in Helmond has some surprises once in a while and that is always worth a visit. The Waterman too, btw.

Hi Yann,
Those are the most colorful T. perugiae I have ever seen. I hope they are able to retain those colors.

Hi Larry!!
Thanks!!
I have no idea if they are wild caught or not, a friend of mine had these for a year or so...they were part of his breeding colony...and he gave me a male and 2 females!! From what I know they have been coloured that way since he has them...
I have no idea if food, or water is responsible for this colour...or if it is a geographic population showing such lovely colour!!
Cheers
Yann

I think your friend has found a way to keep them in optimal condition. This yellow "glow" is seen in more freshly imported fishes, like for instance but wears off rather rapidly due to the different conditions in our tanks - as opposed to their natural habitat. It is noticed the easiest in fishes with a black & white (or silvery) pattern.
So with regard to your above statement: it's not a geographic population (imo), but he does something very splendid with water quality and/or food. My compliments  .

Here's another picture of the Tetranematichthys. This is one of the females with a nicely filled belly. I would like to think that she's gravid, but I think it's caused by feeders. Very keen hunters, these fish. However, the scratches on her sides could be caused by the dorsal spine of the male.....
Sweet dreams, Mr. van Arc
