Baby mekong catfish? can anyone id please

Thank you very much, Dr Heok Hee Ng. They have a strong caudal fin, but the lateral line and the lower jaw is not good to see. My first guess was a Pangasius-Pangasianodon hybrid. But I could not find any scientific articles about hybrids of Pangasiidae to assist this theory.

Hasn't a pangasiid been crossed with a clariid or some other weird combo in a lab? RTC x Pangasiid has been done.

a couple of genera closely related like the suggestion above would be easier...

I agree with Dr. Ng. Both look like very ordinary, easy-to-identify IDS to my eye.

The bottom line appears to be that MFK resident expert Fugupuff, aka Wesley Wong of Rare Fish, who seems to have the most notable authority on MGC at least among regular participants on MFK, says that he believes that several hybrids have been made at fish farms combining different Pangasius and Pangasianodon spp inter- and intra-genus. Hence, he would not recommend engaging in the identification of MGC.

Thus, it appears a gambling game and the chances are stacked heavily against anyone who thinks they may get the real McCoy MGC. I don't think we know of a single verified private keeper.

You my choose to write to Zeb Hogan and see what he says. If you do, your report on this here would be highly appreciated.
