Some are still in the cave with the dad, but it seems like he want them to leave. He is more in the opening of the cave, than inside. They have colloured into black/white spotted.

Mine are now 10 to 12 cm. With some more care I gess I could have them to around 15 cm, but 10 cm is not that bad within a year. It's now more ore less one year ago I hand my breeding. I will try on breeding them soon again, but for the moment I don't have the time cuase I building more aquariums. I'll try adding a pic later on....

Yes! They are eating and much better shape now. The only problem is that the holes was to big and the smaller ones escaped Have to catch them next waterchange.

Ole, your brooding male seems to be a dedicated guy if he continued to provide brood care after being transferred.
I use very basic breeding set ups for my plecos too.
I always include some wood and fewer caves than I have females as you did. I think when the rival females have to compete for the right to breed with a male that was dominant enough to take and hold a cave against all rivals, this helps encourage spawns. It's just a hypothesis but it seems to work for me but I only keep smaller species.
It will be nice to see when your fry have finished their larval development and perhaps a couple weeks of growth.
I am impressed by the dedication it takes and the successes that have resulted among those who have seriously attempted breeding some of the larger attractive pleco species.
Years ago I wouldn't have believed it was even possible.

Yes they have yellow/orangish collour on the tail now. They get more and more collour every day.
Hope people don´t make hybrids and sell them ? This would be really bad...

After waterchange today i added one more filter with tube into the two boxes for more circulation. Finally got use for this small filter.
They seems to like it.

Hi Everybody!
I hope we can join your team soon. Folks, how long pair may stay together in one cave? My 333s like to stay 1-1,5 before any eggs could be achieved, other plecos are very fast. That brutalists (visual only, normally they are very quiet) is also may to stretch enjoyment or they are “fast spawners”? It is very funny to hear how pair is moving in the ceramic cave; it is like regular gritting of teeth or cat sneezing

Wow i guess we breed our L114 about the same time. Mine bred on 16 april. How is the survival rate for yours? Seems like for mine it isn't that great. Have quite a number of sudden death.

I dont know how many there are, but i guess like 40 or 50. The babybox i made was not very successful. They holes in one of them was too big. In the other too small. So they either ran through the wholes or jumped over. But all are doing fine in the main aquarium. The few ones that remain in the boxes is of course a bit bigger.
I removed the boxes today and released all of them into the main tank today, due to I need the boxes for other babies.
They are getting nicer color and more orange tail. Tails are quite variable. Some have all red, some just one stripe.

These was the ones that was left in the boxes.
They have been fighting. One have a big scratch on the head and some have scars in the fins.

Brilliant kids Congratilations, Ole!
My Cactuses spawned 04.07.11 first time too There is a lot of large orange eggs
Father was very infantile, no fanning. He left cave as soon as I tried to light inside. I hope half of that will survive in cage.

Do you have update on how big the babies you sold is now ? I think my scarlets are growing extremely slow compared to the other pseudacanthicus i keep.
Any tips of favorite food you used for yours ?

sadly, I have no news from H. or his friend... even if I wrote MP's
my L320 and L25 fry were fed with Sera Viformo during the first weeks, and then chops of deepfrozen shrimps... they also loved Tetra Diskus... occasionnaly, they had Hikari chips (but not before 6-8 months old, the pellets are too hard and big for small fry)

Too bad earth worm sticks are some what difficult for many European breeders to get because they are so well suited for fry to adult of the more or less carnivorous leaning plecos.
Nearly all the name brand foods share that problem of staying too hard for fry to easily eat. The earth worm or Spirulina sticks stay firm enough long enough for the big gulpers but are soft enough in a few minutes for all Pleco fry to suck in. And they stay in place pretty well unless you drop them directly in front of a filter return outlet.
I know I began discussing their merits as soon as I first joined the forum and I expected them to be marketed by some well known company by now but they are still only distributed by only a two American and only one(I think) UK aquaculture/pond fish food suppliers.
They all get them from http://bestflake.com/ in California.

This is last video I did before vacation
Unfortunately nobody take care of fry 2 weeks and most part dyed. Last survived was released to mature tank from fry-keeper. I hope cactuses will continue trials in autumn.
