Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Hey guys,
I think I am going to keep the oil cats, 5 pygmy corys, a few oto. vittarus (I think that is the spelling) and then some zebra otos. Would it be ok for the zebra otos and regular otos to be together? Will they group up like normal otos do, or will they be separate "schools"? It will take me a long time to get a large school of zebras, but I know my LFS has about 5 right now @ $15 each... I will talk them down and try to get a good deal.

I will be watching with interest on how well your experience with Otocinclus cocama. My first experience with 5 O. cocama did not end well but surely they are possible to keep long and well if they start out in good condition.

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Did he respond to you? I requested my money back until he gets them in... and haven't heard anything. If nothing is heard by friday, I am going to file a paypal greivence. I did find another place that has them, but they are $11 each plus shipping and coming from Arizona to the midwest would be expensive overnight.

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Yeah, he got back to me. I think I am going to do the same as you. I want them, but am at the point where I can wait until someone more dependable gets them in. As for the AZ seller, ouch. From what I have seen, $11 isn't actually that bad, but as you said, the shipping will likely be a killer...nvcichlids wrote:Did he respond to you? EDIT: I went ahead and requested a refund. When did you request yours? I made sure to specifically ask him to let me know when he sent mine.

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Ok, so on the agenda for the weekend:
1. Send the Gymnogeophagus sp. "el norte" to their perminant tank back home
2. Pick up plants from LFS
3. Pick up store credited fish (1x Corydoras trilineatus, 10x Black Neon Tetras or Green/Blue Neon Tetras depending on whats in.)
4. Look to see the condition of the Pygmy Cories and Otos at my LFS.
5. Re-Arrange stuff, get the wood where I want it, remove the large piece in the picture.
6. Take Pictures and Share!

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Hey Bud, I don't know if you saw or not, but on aquabid, they have some other tatia sp.
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1234034562 for the galaxia and
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1234034671 for the gyrina.
Both don't seem to be very common, and maybe you can get a semi decent deal. Shipping, once again, was too much for me to afford, but it may be a little less for you?

The ID of T. gyrina is correct.

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Yeah, I saw those. I would be interested in them, but I think that the honeycomb cats are a bit more attractive for the price. I did e-mail about shipping as well. I don't recall exactly what it was, but it's a part of the reason I haven't put a bid in. Just let me know if you decide to go for any of these guys in the future - the seller has been steadily lowering his prices. If they go a bit lower, I may change my mind.

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Hey, good to see that you noticed them. I am more interested in the gyrina than the intermedias due to the size constraint. If the price hits roughtly 10 a fish, I will be jumping like no tomorrow!
Progress for the weekend:
1. Gymnos moved out
2. Bumbleebee moved out
3. Some plants purchased
4. Wood arranged, but some pieces need to be moved and a few more added.
Still To Do:
Add more plants
Add black neon tetras
Get the Cent. perugiae.

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
Sounds like good progress. The rest should be a piece of cake...except the last one, of course.
As for the woodcats, I am in the same boat as you. I definitely want ones that stay under 3". I wouldn't be able to house many of the T. intermedia. I wonder how many of the "scissortails" he has...

Re: Cent. perugiae plant suggestions??
Ok, I need some advice on what plants to put into the tank? I have a sword sp, some val sp., couple of crypts.. what else would go well? I am thinking another compacta sword, and crypts, but I would also LOVE to get something that spreads very easily along the bottom (dwarf tears??)

Anubias, Java fern, - low light levels required, grow on wood & rocks, large leaves - what more could a catfish tank need?

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
I've decided to abandon the idea of getting the honeycomb cats. Instead, my 37 is now home to 4 banjo cats, 6 SA bumblebees, a L-201, and a few BNs. I really like this "common" SA catfish setup. Good luck getting your tatia... somewhere down the road, when I can give them their own tank, I will definitely get some of 'em.

Cent. perugiae Tank Pictures!!!
And here it is, finally after hours of work and decisions being made, my tank is done (as for looks, still waiting on the little honeycombs). There is a large assortment of plants in there with driftwood. I did get a couple anubias to try to start growing on the wood, and I still have some larger anubias in another tank that I can add later ONLY if I feel nessescary. So here are the pictures, Suggestions are still welcomed.
My lone oto (was a part of the pair I had for several years)
And the L201's (if that is what they are, but I trust Plecoboy did have them correctly ID'd)
#2
#3
and #4
Trilineatus
So the fish list is:
4x young L201's F1
3x L129 (1m/2f) wild
6x Corydoras pygmeous
2x Corydoras trilineatus
2x Keyhole cich lids
1x Oto
10x Black Neon Tetras

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
that is what I thought aswell. They looked very similar (some of mine are just chunky lol). BTW, contacted that place about ordering their , because based on the description, it could be ther reticulatus, , , or even . Any of those would be fine with me, as I love that they are all smaller and BEAUTIFUL!!
Edit: If it was the schultzi, I would definately have to switch to a 55 when the time comes (double 55 stand in my appartment when I get it and the rest at my parents/brothers houses lol..)

Ok, so it seems that we are both getting some Cent. perugiae's from the same company!!! Cannot wait to take pics and compare (although i wouldn't have minded getting the Centromochlus reticulatus instead lol.)
So Pictures to come Either Sunday or Monday (need time to continue to plan my wedding over the weekend, so I will not be around a computer (much)).

Re: Cent. perugiae tankmate suggestions
LMAO!, she is limiting what I am allowed to have in our appartment. I am ok with that, two tanks is plenty for now (plus a lot of them are a tad to big for appartment life.) Now when I get a house, the basement becomes the Fish room lol. I had another idea, building a 4 season sunroom and build an above ground pond (like the large display tanks at the bass pro shops only way WAAAY smaller) and use the natural heat/humidity from the room to heat the pond and have a few spotlights over head to light it and have a pool filter. I REALLY am pushing for that idea, because then I would only want a couple (2-4) other tanks for fish from other continents (N.A. tank, Tanganyikan tank, and an Asian Nano fish tank.)
