A picture of the belly colouration might also help, but I still think we're going to struggle becuase, as Daniel says, we need to know where it came from (so don't haul it out of the tank just for that).
I'm still interested in Yann's suggestion...

Jools,
I think this picture shows the belly coloration nicely... And it looks just like the belly of
G. parnaibae, IMHO. Not a full shot, but it shows the pattern, that's just like the body, but somewhat lighter:

I called the LFS owner about the pleco i bought.
He said that that pleco somebody had and traded it in with another pleco,so he doesn't know from where this pleco is coming from?
And he insist that it's an Leopard pleco...i told him it's not...some lfs owners really have no ideas of what they keep
Btw..i think the correct id must be G. parnaibae!!!

Why?
We don't know where it is from and it just looks a bit like several species, not just
G. parnaibae. I'd say our desire to label the fish with a name is getting the benefit of the doubt here.
When was the last time anyone saw
G. parnaibae in a LFS? I've NEVER seen them in Europe, that's not to say a first shipment has arrived recently but it is very, very unlikely.
A sport of
G. joselimaianus would be my guess unless anyone can give me a better explanation.
Jools
PS It's a very nice fish and a good find BTW!

Robby,
I don't think it's a L083,
... Looks more like a more colorful sport of
G. joselimaianus IMHO. Have you seen this pic, of a specimen owned by pureplecs?

From
this topic, BTW. The pattern somewhat resembles the pattern of your specimen to me.
Your pleco kinda looks like a "mix" of these two species, but I'm with Jools here. Anyways, it's a NICE pleco.
Best regards.
Daniel.

This is a wonderful little fish ..
It looks nothing like a common plec!!!
Although that has now been noticed ..
Look after him well and lets see if he retains the patern .
As for ID you need to know the river or forget it ..
Hats off to your shop for being brave enough to import
these type of fish.!
