I have been posting for a while but never gave where I am from. Well I am from Union, NJ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Town ... New_Jersey) which is known as being the hometowns for Roberth Wuhl of the famous movie "Hollywood Knights" and Ray Liotta. We also have the worlds tallest watersphere (http://www.worldstallestwatersphere.com/). We are also famous for having a group of homes made of concrete that were designed by Thomas Edison. Union is approximately 12 miles southwest of NYC. We have a train station and Kean University in the town. We also have 2 Targets, 2 Home Depots (1 being the largest in the world), 2 Best Buys, a Walmart, Circuit City and a Lowes, not too mention 6 supermarkets. Our town is home to 54000 people.
For the fish folk we have 2 very good LFS close by (Shark Aquarium and Pet Shanty). Nearby my house we have a small river with no catfish that I have seen but with non-native goldfish, sunfish and turtles.
As far as the water is concerned if you want to raise cichlids come to Union, our water comes out of the tap at 7.8 with hard water and a lot of buffering capacity
I've got 4 tanks:
230l community cointaing various fish including a tyre track eel, clown loach, angles, tetras (of various forms) 2 plecs that I beleive are Sailfin plecs but I'm trying to get that confirmed
40L Moss Tank, containg cherry shrimp, sri lanka shrimp, and rednose shrimp
20L tank for breeding snowball shrimp
20L tank for breeding MTS and Tadpole snails
Hi! I'm from Northern Wisconsin, USA (up by Superior, Wisconsin/Duluth, Minnesota). I see a few Wisconsinites and Minnesotans in this thread. Fishkeeping is not very popular in my immediate area so it's difficult to obtain new species. Most LFS around here only carry albino C. aeneus, but a one of my LFS ordered in some C. panda and C. habrosus for me. Most of my fish have come through the mail, though. My coworkers look at me oddly whenever I receive a package.
hi ther, well im from tasmania , australia.. i currently keep a bib range of fish and plecos.. its on the bottom of my signature.. im really into the african cichlids and catfish more than all the others but i gave my 2 little boys the privlage of stocking a couple of the tanks and ended up with an assortment of guppies ,platys, mollies and tetras pf all different varieties...
all though all of them have cat fish in them also..
i am looking at setting up another tank for all the bristlenose babys to go into , as i have over 400 from 3 different spawns, ranging from 4cm to 1 cm... little poo machins..

Welcome along Katherine, you may find the "my cats" feature useful. You can go to each species that you keep in the cat-elog and click on the "add this species" link to add it to the list of species you keep. You can then keep it up to date with what aquarium it is in, how mnay males and females and so on. You can see my list to the right of this post and you would get the same link to your fish on your posts.
I am form Glenormiston South Australia
I live in dairy country
I started keeping fish again after being told to give up horses once more.
I am breeding Bettas and had my first cat fish given to me 4 common BN males
I still have them, I fell in love

I think, there would be many more forum users from German speaking countries (Switzerland, Austria, Germany, ...), if there wouldn´t be such a lot of German aquaristik forums yet, even some special catfish-forums (e.g. http://www.l-welse.com. , http://www.welse.net , yahoo catfish-mailinglist, ...).
I'm Australian, but I live in Germany - I clicked on Australia, oops!
The germans really like their aquariums, it's so popular here and they have their own forums. I assume that's why there aren't so many here - language is of course a factor too.
