Well, unfortunatley the female Tatia sp B has died.
Still I preserved her...I ll try to manage to deposite the speciemen at MHNG!!

On the other hand, the missing third

Trachelyopterichthys taeniatus

did not show up, so that species is now officially down to one pair.

The above dates from Sat Dec 18, 2010; the day I emptied my smallest tank and gave it away. Also a very "low" period for me hobbywise.

Last weekend I actually enjoyed myself working on both remaining tanks; a feeling that has been lacking for quite some time.
As a bonus, I noticed 3 (yes, three) T. taeniatus, which was in fact a huge surprise. Don't ask me where number 3 came from - I hate to think it came from the the piece of wood I had to saw in two, because if so that was the only fish I couldn't see while doing so.... - but she's there and - unlike previous occasions - in perfectly good health.

In case you may wonder: "he's quite happy again so why do some fishes have to leave?", I must admit that I've seen a lot of brownish driftwoods for the past 9 years and I actually want to switch to some more visible auchenipterids. I hope to encounter some during our 3 weeks stay in the UK next July/August.
So, anyone seen any ageneiosids lately? Preferable somewhere close to the Peak district.

The peak-district isn't too far from Pier Aquatics, I'd say... ;) Not that I'm sure of any Agenosoids being present there in July/August, but it's one of the better choices.

Not far from the Peak District... I would suggest you visit Wharf Aquatics at Pinxton near Nottingham, just off J28 of the M1. They are one of the best...

I don't know Wharf, but apparently there's a good reason to change that. Will go there!

And indeed, July/August may be the worst time wrt new arrivals, but I'm hoping for some left-overs.

Well, perhaps I should have written that they are too dominant foodwise and are therefore a nuissance towards the other fishes. And after they gulped away their (and other fishes -) meal, they dash out of sight. Same goes for the Liosomadoras btw.
Too bad no-one seems interested in them; I'm afraid they will end up in a LFS.....

I can understand that this is a problem if you keep them whit slow eaters. The only problem I have with them is that they also eat the pleco-tabs I try to give at my Hypostomus. The other fishes eat faster than them. And these don't like frozen food, so if your slow eaters like frozen food ...

Soon I will move to a bigger house and then I will have more space for some woodcats but this tank can't hold 2 more off them and in other tanks I want other woodcats.

I'm interested to see answers to this question. My concern is the sharp scutes on the Acanthodoras damaging the skin of other woodcats. I guess the answer is to provide loads of caves and hidey-holes.
I've been thinking of adding my Acanthodoras to my Trachy Taniatus tank...

It seems a bit small for a fisheri, yes. Yet my male is noticeably smaller than my females and given the number of fellow inhabitants it may well work out.

Wrt the combination of auchenipterids and doradids: this may be tricky, especially when too few hiding places are being provided. An auchenipterid could easily be skinned by a doradid or even another auchenipterid.
My Lio tended to cram itself into a certain piece of wood, regardless of any other inhabitants. This resulted in a lot of damaged other auchenipterids, until we decided to get that piece of wood out.
In fact, after a tip by Alex, I threw all the wood out in which a fish could be trapped by another one simply blocking the entrance. No more damaging and/or starving for my fishes. Too bad it took me so many years to find this out......

The Acanthodoras can easily be placed in another tank. Never thought about the combination woodcats/doradids and the negative effect of it except cave-competition.

I also think a tank from a meter is on the small side for the fisheri. I can put him in a bigger tank with other fishes, as long as I don't have a female for him I can't start a breeding attempt.

When moving home (and tanks), I found the remains of the skinny male - it was, as I suspected, too far gone. I also found out whhat happened to the third specimen! I have a Rena Smart heater which has a hole running down the back to allow use of an external filter inlet - the two missing ones must have got stuck in there, and one was obviously able to exit when I moved the tank around last time due to having lost so much weight. I found the skull of the third one in the bottom of the heater grill

Today we've done the first major overhaul of the large tank since it arrived last August.
A number of fishes were taken out. 8 Hemigrammus caudomaculatus (ex-feeders for Tetranematichthys), 1 Astyanax sp and 3 Callichthys went to Alex.
1 Dekeyseria brachyura and a huge pair of Trachelyopterus galeatus went to a good LFS, due to a serious lack of interest. Hopefully they can provide them a good home.

Although we initially thought of adding more characins, the idea is now to add the 5 remaining Auchenipterus nigripinnis to the large tank. Hopefully they'll be a bit happier and less skittish in 2 meters. On the other hand this move may include a risk as they may well spook my not-so-brave Triportheus.
Anyway, we'll see. Keep you posted.

I have just spoken to the shop, and although they are going to email over some pictures later today, the description of a 3-4" brown fish with cream oval spots pretty much confirms there are not T.galaxias, but Tatia intermedia or the species linked to above, as suspected. Shame...

yes, they are a lovely yet weird fish. My friend still has his pair. They are adult and sexually mature at just 5 inch approx.:
