Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?

Negative thing is that this species is becoming very irritating because of their behaviour. Way beyond panicking every time someone dares to approach the tank with two bad consequences:
- they keep themselves constantly injured (and thus probably more liable to diseases)
- other fishes (Markiana) are becoming very skittish as well

To anyone doubting the purchase of

Auchenipterus nigripinnis

, stop doubting. Simply don't buy. In my opinion and experience this auchenipterid is highly unrecommended. Sorry.

Since a few weeks these are kept with other smaller auchenipterids and 6 angels and I must admit their behaviour is improving. So apparently the combination with larger, boisterous (or smaller and irritating) characins isn't a good one. It's still not a good idea to dance into the room, yet I finally have the feeling we're getting somewhere.

Yes, I've even moved the tank and cabinet and checked everywhere I could.

I'm pretty sure that when you dig lightly with your fingers through the sand you'll find skulls.
They should still be in there somewhere, given the fact that they are not on the ground.

You even moved the tank? My goodness!

It's only an 18"x12"x12", and I have recently had central heating fitted in my rented flat, so needed to move it anyway as it was placed where they wanted to fit a radiator! It gave me the opportunity to really check all around, but nothing.

I picked up a nice little

Trachelyichthys exilis

about a month ago. Seems to be doing OK in my small office tank (now the only one I have) with a couple of

Pterocryptis berdmorei

and a

Leiocassis hosii

-like thing.

Nice specimen! Looks fat and happy. I just moved my morrowi onto a keeper in Arizona. I discovered he would eat anytime as long as he couldn't see me, so I watched him through a hole in the basement wall. I like their smile.

Over here times are sloppy: hardly anything for sale in the shops. Good for me though, for I told myself to wait a bit before getting new fishes.

Talking of which: Kruseman, you know I'm a stubborn person in some respects, but what makes me curious is the plural in your post. So, what nice fishes were there besides the Agnes Moenks and the Tatia? You know I won't buy there myself anymore, but I could well be hypocrit enough to send someone else in to get me something of interest - like yourself .
However, if so I would ask more politely, don't worry.

yes, I have them already for a few months but these are the first decent pics I could make. They are very cool fishes. They where listed as Galaxia but they look more to intermedia if you ask me.

Hi Marc, Yes, that is what I think. There are at least 4 'forms' that IMO will eventually be deemed different species.

A strange thing happened to one of my Ageneiosus spec 3 males. All of a sudden one of its pectoral spines is pointing upwards. Easiest explanation is to say that this was due to a mating attempt (I've seen matings of T. intermedia that ended up in the actual loss of a pectoral spine), but I doubt that very much because they are not into "breeding modus" afaics.
So I'm a bit lost about the cause and I'm also rather curious if this will recover. Apparently the fish is not very troubled by it, but it certainly looks odd.

It does and rather quickly as well. The spine is almost in its normal position by now.

And I'm still very unsure whether or not I could let you have one of my two females. I'm sure you'll provide her a good home (as some other fishes that used to be mine), but I've grown rather fond of this species.
