Yes, my definition of a 'superbug' is a microorganism that has mutated enough to resist our basic medications, or some other microorganism that we haven't even heard about yet.

A week later: out of the remaining 3 smaller dorado, one schools with the bigger ones, it is the biggest, the other two cower in the tank corners most time, no good, all 3 fight a LOT, much more than the original batch. The two in the corners stopped feeding, so I took the real beat up one to a different tank. The other remained just as miserable in its corner, so I soon transferred it to the same tank. Only the 3rd one remains in with the bigger 8 dorado:

The situation has become stable

- 8 bigger dorado together,
- the 1st and 2nd smaller together,
- the 3rd smaller apart from all other dorado.

Who knows for how long.

Shocked by baby arowana killing 7 out of 11 of their kin, one by one, over 2 months. Why?

What do you know? This adventure has been reborn out of total hopelessness and oblivion.

I think I killed the smaller Nile perch from the prior try with two of them via thiaminase (and perhaps our barramundi as well). Now that I think I might know better AND we have the license to keep Nile Perch in Florida, this second try has a potential of being more successful:

Forest's 4x FL and 1x spotted, all five are 1.5ft. I tried the 4x FL gar first in the 4500 gal aiming to give them, and then the spotted gar, the biggest tank possible. It didn't work. The 4x FL gar were okay in the 4500 gal only for a couple of days and then their tails started to show mild-to-bad damage, so I had to take them out after less than a week and transfer them to a 240 gal, and the spotted gar went in there with them too bypassing the 4500 gal.

The cuban gars have always bit the tails of their kin mercilessly and I think they have done it to these smaller 1.5ft FL gar. The five 2ft cubans never touched the 2ft FL gar, two 2ft tropical gars, and 3ft longnose gar in the 4500 gal.

Have you seen the same where cubans are nasty to each other and to a bit smaller gar of other species, or specifically FL gar?

I've kept 2.5ft alligator gars with 1.5ft FL gars before and never had any problem like this.

I had treated with MicrobeLift Broad Spectrum Disease Treatment BSDT based on formalin and Malachite Green, 2/3 of full dose per label. Soon the deformed elephant ear male, 5 yo 1.5ft, died for no good reason but likely as a consequence of the treatment.

This is strongly reminiscent of how Tatooshka and an RTGG died about 5 years ago.

I think there is a trend. Even though the vast majority of GGs remain superficially unaffected by the treatment, some that are weaker or compromised seem to die from the treatment.
