hello I was woundering if it was possible to or if you can breed royal plecos in captivity?

It's possible. Big pleco's have been bred in ponds in Southern US and South-East Asia for several years, but those are "commons", which are certainly more easy to breed than the big panaque species - but there's nothing saying that it can't be done.

However, big panaques are still a nut yet to be cracked...

If big panaque breeding is feasible in a home aquarium is a different question altogether. These fish probably need to be the best part of a foot in length to be sexually mature, so a big tank is certainly on the order. Other factors like diet, size of group and environmental factors that cause or encourage them to spawn are yet to be understood.
