Do these two get along

I am in the planning stages of a 150g DIY tank. I am trying to put together my list of fish and need to know if my two syno choices should get along in this space. The floor of the tank is going to be 58" x 24".

I have a Syno Eupterus, would like another. I am planning on adding 1 or 2 Decorus.

Would these guys get along?

The cichlids they will live with won't be a problem, but someone mentioned these two guys have a history of not getting along when in this much space. I am upgrading from a 55g so I don't want to have to change out fish too much so I am doing mu research now.

putting 2 Syno's together of the same or different species can be tricky.

even mildmannered species can get fiercely territorial.
2 is just a bad number with synodontis.

your tank however is large enough for a small group; both species are mildmannered as Syno's go and can be kept in small groups (say 5 or so).

IMO it's better to keep 1 species in a group than to collect several species in 1's or 2's.

so choose your favourite Syno and keep them in a group.

Sidguppy, do you think it would be okay to have one adult eupterus in with a group of five decorus? I am hoping to set up a large 6' long by 3' wide tank and I am considering making it an African river themed tank, with the focus on the decorus. However I have an old eupterus that I've had for many years and if this new tank goes ahead then I'd be keen to put it in it. Do you think the group of decorus would give the eupterus any trouble once they exceed its size?

The trouble w/decorus is that they grow to 12"+, so a group needs a LARGE tank.

No, I think they'll keep to themselves and will leave the eupterus alone.

Thanks marc that's good to hear. I wasn't sure if maybe a lone other species would get picked upon by the larger group, but there should be plenty of room in that tank and it will of course be full of drift wood.
