Sexing Synodontis multipunctatus

Are there any distinct ways to tell the Synodontis multipunctatus males from the females. I am interested. I have 2 in my tank and I'm curious as to what they are.

Plus Syno 1 aggressively chases Syno 2 while Syno 2 will calmly follow Syno 1 around. I don't understand this relationship.

You can sex these fish very easily as the male genitals are very visible as a small pointed protrusion in the likely area. Females will either not have any growth or a very small protrusion. See Catelog and COTM.

The behavior of the fish sounds like you have recently put them in the tank and they are establishing dominance. You may be able to relieve aggression by putting in 2 or 3 more Multi's depending on the size of your tank.

WOW...Very good observasion. I DID just put one of them in. I've had one in there for 8 months and the other I just put in there 1 or 2 weeks ago.

Its the established syno that is chasing the new syno around.

Did you already notice the article on S. multipunctatus?
It sits in CotM (upper toolbar), 2002, July. That may be helpful to you.
