Possible Panaque albomaculatus?

Post by Geist »

I recently bought this specimen as L204 at my local pet shop, which it definitely isn't.

After going through some of my books and the excellent cat-eLog on this site I would make him Panaque albomaculatus (LDA31).
I would like to know what you think about this ID.

Thanks,
Joachim

Yes, is a very likely candidate. A close-up of the mouth would help verify the species.

Hi Geist.

I have kept this fish, and I can confirm yours is a P.albomaculatus.

You can see the caudal filaments in your photos.

Thank you for the confirmation of my guess :)
I'll try to post a picture of the mouth area sometime soon, but he is still a bit shy so it could be a while.

Thanks again,
Joachim
