I'm sorry to say that I can't tell from the pictures - it's hard to say if the first fish is just a bit blurry or have odontodes on the back of the body. The second fish looks like it's got odontodes, so would be a likely male... But both sets of pictures are slightly shallow depth of fields and on the bottom picture it looks like focus is on the bottom of the container rather than on the fish itself, which makes it harder to tell - and YES I DO KNOW how hard it is to take these pictures, but it's equally not so easy to tell the difference of the fish if the pictures are not sharp and clear...

first of all im not a bloke thank you very much
and im sorry for the quality of the pictures, they were really hard to take especially the first one of each fish for i couldnt get them to pose and had to catch them in a net and put it against the front glass of the tank and with my other hand take the picture, which is really NOT easy. so i understand why you can't really tell.
you said the second fish seemed to have odontodes, when i took the pictures i think i saw this too but they were really small. the first fish didn't seem to have them, is it possible for a male to not have odontodes and still be a male?

To be honest, I probably couldn't tell the difference on the vent-side anyways, so those pictures could have been sharp as a tack and still not helped me.Freckles wrote:first of all im not a bloke thank you very much

It is possible that you could have a dominant male and another subdominant male. But it's also, probably more likely, possible that you have one of each. Maybe if you let them grow on a bit, they'll show more of the sexual dimorphism... Or even breed, if you have one of each...

"l am not a Bloke" hehe, sorry freckles, its hard to know who is who and what is what here .
You said you handled the fish, a mature male would feel very rough especially moving your hand (gentle) tail to head and the female not as rough at all
